Bashima Islam is an assistant professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. Her research falls in the intersection of Mobile and Ubiquitous Computing, Machine Learning, and Cyber-Physical Systems. She focuses on the usability, intelligence, and processing capabilities of tiny, low-power computing devices, with a goal of developing computers for applications such as wearable health and agriculture. Islam is most recently a visiting postdoctoral research associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champagne. She received her BSc from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology and her PhD from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
