When's NSO 2008?

Our 2008 New Student Orientation will begin on Sunday, August 24th, 2008.

Participating in NSO 2008

Our new student orientation program is where it's at! It's your first official introduction to our community. All new WPI students, and especially transfer and international students should attend. We look forward to all new students joining us for the beginning of New Student Orientation on move in day Sunday, August 24, 2008. New students check in for the Orientation program beginning at 9am on Sunday, August 24th.

Get your student ID early.  Save time, don't wait in line!

If you live near WPI and would like to obtain your WPI ID prior to Orientation, you may do so beginning Monday, August 4th through Wednesday, August 20th, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM in the Administrative Services Offices in Founders Hall, Lower Level. Obtaining your ID Card before Orientation will mean there will be one less thing to do, on what will be a very busy day on Sunday, August 24th.

While you're at NSO 2008, you'll...

• Learn about WPI's special culture, including our project and team based educational system, your personal responsibilities, and why you need to make wise and well thought-out decisions while at WPI.
• Become more comfortable with the many new situations you'll encounter during your first few weeks at WPI.
• Discuss your own academic schedule with your advisor and ensure it is oriented toward your goals.
• Talk with your Community Advisor about how WPI is different from your high school experience. Ask your Community Advisor about the importance of taking responsibility for your own learning, managing your time, and asking questions in and out of class.
• Last but not least, develop new friends, meet WPI faculty and administrators, and learn how to balance academic time and learning with student activities.

For International Students...

NSO 2008 is for our new undergraduate international students. International students will be asked to arrive on Wednesday, August 20 for the pre-orientation scheduled from Thursday, August 21 to Saturday, August 23. If you are joining us as an undergraduate international student, please take a look at the International House Web site for information about International Student Orientation.

For Graduate Students...

NSO 2008 is for our new undergraduate students. If you are joining us as a graduate student, please take a look at the Accepted Graduate Students Web site for information about Graduate Student Orientation.
