Facts & Figures
WPI has launched an exciting campus expansion project with the construction of a modern, 232-bed, apartment style residence hall featuring all of the amenities of independent living. This project, along with plans to build an adjacent parking garage, will provide new energy to this area of campus which already includes residential and Greek housing. The revival of WPI’s lower campus will start this summer with the development of both a restaurant and a convenience store located on the first floor of Founders Hall.
Designed to bring upperclass students back to the WPI campus, the new residence hall will include 4-person apartments with full kitchens, living rooms, compartmentalized bathrooms and either single or double bedrooms. Recreation and fitness space is part of the program for this air-conditioned, wireless access building along with Tech Suites on each floor for project groups.
The restaurant in Founders Hall is a 175 seat, full service restaurant offering popular foods in a casual wait-staff serviced environment. The facility which will include booth & table seating, pool table and plasma televisions will be open 7 days per week from 11:00 AM – 11:00 PM with late night service on weekends. The menu of offerings will include a wide range of popular foods including appetizers, entrees, sandwiches, desserts, and an array of beverages including espresso, tea, soda, beer and wine.
The New Residence Hall is designed as a "green" building using sustainable design principles under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program.
