Academics
Some of WPI’s programs allow students and faculty to engage in questions that are critical to sustaining the building blocks of our society: ecosystem integrity, economic progress, and social equity. WPI community members are trying to foster a community that produces innovative ideas and practical solutions to the following questions:
- How can we improve the quality of human life, now and into the future?
- How can we do this in a just and equitable manner?
- How can we do this while living within the limits of supporting ecosystems?
Issues of sustainability are an inherent part of WPI’s unique curriculum, which affords students rich opportunities to examine these questions, whether they seek to explore matters of sustainability on campus, in Worcester, or abroad in countries like Thailand, Namibia, or Costa Rica. The student projects compiled in the Student Projects Database have been completed at these and other project sites throughout the world and they address topics related to sustainability at the broadest level.
