Scanning Images
Note
These instructions are for use of the scanner in Fuller Labs, Room B24 and the Multimedia Resource Lab (Movie Lab) in the Gordon Library.
Opening Adobe Photoshop CS2
- On a PC in Fuller B24 or the Movie Lab, select Start > All Programs > Adobe > Adobe Photoshop CS2.
- Allow Adobe Photoshop CS2 to open.
Scanning Images
- Place your image in the scanner, making sure it is straight
- Check to make sure that the scanner power is turned on.
- From Photoshop, select File > Import and select the scanner from the list.
The scanner is manufactured by Microtek in Fuller B24 and in the Movie Lab the scanner is manufactured by Cannon
- A scan preferences window opens up. Select your image preferences.

- Select the Preview button to capture a preview of your image in case you want to make any adjustments. The scanner scans a preview of your image.
- Make any adjustments to the image placement on the scanner bed or to the selection area.
- When you are ready to scan the image so that you can save it to file, select the Scan button.
- The scanner begins to scan the image. When it is complete, the file opens up in Photoshop.
- You should now save the file. To do this, go to File > Save As.
- Enter in a file name next to the File Name textbox.
- In the Format pulldown menu, select JPEG as the file type. This ensures that you will be able to open the file on your own PC once you have saved it.

- Select the Save button when you are finished to save the file.
- In the JPEG Options window, select your preferred image quality under Image Options. When you are finished, select the OK button.

Tip
Be sure you save on either your Toaster drive or a Network drive that you have access to from your office PC. A USB key drive is another alternative location for saving a scanned image file.
Tip
Higher quality images work best for printing, although the file size is significantly larger.
