About Us
The staff of the Academic Technology Center is divided into four major service groups:
- Technology for Teaching and Learning is a group within the ATC that works with faculty, staff, and students on the application of technology to teaching and learning and supporting activities. They provide a variety of self-serve resources for faculty in the Teaching with Technology Collaboratory, consultations with faculty on the use of technology for teaching and learning, professional development workshops and programs for faculty and staff, support for myWPI, SharePoint, Wimba Classroom, software application training, and technology support for faculty teaching in WPI’s distance learning program. Members of the group serve as liaisons to the academic and administrative departments.
- Campus Media Services is responsible for the audio/visual management and support required by campus event planners as well as the day-to-day support of electronic classrooms, conference rooms and the ATC's comprehensive inventory of loan out equipment.
- Media Production Services provides support for studio facility productions, remote productions, special event taping, satellite and cable TV connectivity, videotape duplication and format conversion. The group also consults with and assists faculty and staff on the selection, design, development, and deployment of instructional and presentation materials. These materials can be in the form of digital media files, graphics, research presentation posters, newsletters, CD/DVD production, and multimedia technologies.
- Audio/Visual Systems Engineering is responsible for the design, installation and maintenance of the ATC's operational infrastructure, as well as a host of other campus-wide resources.
Together, these service groups work with other departments in Information Technology to deliver a comprehensive suite of information technology services to the entire WPI community.
