Import/Export CPS Databases Between a PC and Mac

Why do I need to do this?

Though it is normally an easy procedure to save a file on a PC and open it up on a Mac, the CPS software is not as cross-platform compatible as one would hope. While there are both PC and Mac versions of the application, you need to do a simple export/import procedure to open up your database on the other platform. If you do not follow these simple steps, your database will become corrupt and you will be unable to open it.

Export PC Database for use on a Mac

  1. Run the software by going to Start > All Programs > CPS and select CPS.exe from the list.
  2. Go to File and Open Database. Browse for the database you wish to export.
  3. Now that you are in your database, from the File menu, choose Export Database
  4. A Package and Export Database window appears.
  5. Browse through your computer to find the location to which you would like to save the database as a *.cxm file

Import Database to Mac

Once you have saved your CPS PC database in *.cxm format following the steps above, you can import the database on your Mac.

  1. Move the exported database from your PC to your Mac using a portable device or network transfer.
  2. From your Mac, run CPS from Hard drive > Applications.
  3. Open the database into which you would like to import a PC database. If you do not have an existing database, then create a new database by going to File > New Database.
  4. Click the Import/Export icon and choose Import from CXM….
  5. A CPS Open dialog box appears.
  6. Browse through your computer to find the database you would like to import.
  7. Click the Open button to import the file into CPS for Mac.

Export Mac Database for use on a PC
