Recording Live Presentations using WPI Laptops

These instructions are based on the use of a Library or ATC HP3800 Laptop with a built-in camera.
Directions for Recording a Live Session
The ATC has created a settings profile on this laptop that will allow you to record yourself (or a small group) practicing a presentation or demonstration so that you can analyze it at a later time. Please use a private space, such as a Tech Suite, so that the laptop microphone will be most effective.
Equipment Needed:
- 1 HP3800-series laptop, borrowed from ATC or Library
- Quiet space for recording
Steps for Recording:
- Boot up the laptop and log in using your Windows Username and Password.
- Click on the Laptop Camera Capture.wme (Windows Media Encoder) Logo
- You will receive the error message below. Click “Ok”.

- Windows Media Encoder will open. Click the Properties button.

- Be sure that the Output tab is selected, then click “Browse”.
- Browse for a location that you will be able to access after your recording, such as an external USB drive or your toaster file.
- Give your file a name, then click Save.
- Click Apply.
- Position the Laptop lid so that the camera is at the correct angle. The Video Preview window will allow this.
- When you are ready to begin, click “Start Encoding”.
Please note:
Wait 2-3 seconds after hitting Start" before you begin speaking.
- When you have finished, click “Stop Encoding”.

You can only have one Windows Media Encoder window open at a time.
