Face-to-Face Versus Threaded Discussions: The role of Time and Higher-Order Thinking

In this study, advantages were found for holding discussions in both settings, but students noted that using threaded discussions online increased the amount of time they spent on class objectives and they appreciated the extra time for reflection on course issues.
