Seven Principles at WPI: Technology as a Lever Principle One: Good Practice Encourages Contacts Between Students and Faculty

Camtasia Studio is a video-based screen capturing software program. It is analogous to using a video camera to record your screen. However, unlike using a video camera, the software is installed on a PC, so the screen capture is recorded directly to a higher-quality digital video format. Camtasia, along with a PC headset/microphone, can be used to create screen-capture video files.
Camtasia was originally designed for creating software tutorials, but has other powerful applications. Common uses of Camtasia are:- Software tutorials for discipline-specific or lab software
- Explanation of a process displayed in discipline-specific software
- Web site tours
- Narrated Powerpoint presentations
- Narrated explanation of lecture notes, homework solutions or other materials
This Fall, we have updated the campus license of Camtasia Studio to version 3. For information on obtaining the Camtasia software, send an e-mail to atc-ttc@wpi.edu.
