Windows Navigation Shortcuts

March 5, 2007

When teaching in an electronic classroom, you may have times when you need to switch back and forth between multiple programs running on the computer. To save some time opening and closing multiple windows, the following shortcuts can be used to switch between programs or to return to the desktop. These shortcuts are also useful for times when multiple student groups need to give presentations during a class period.

If you need to go back to something on your Desktop, use the Windows Key + D shortcut. (The Windows key has the windows logo on it and is located next to the Alt key.) This will minimize any open windows or programs so you can see your desktop again.

Use Alt+Tab to scroll through any open windows or programs you have open. While holding down the Alt key, keep hitting Tab until you see the window you want to switch to. Then let go and it will open for you.
