Install Interwise and Test Your Connection
Installing and Testing Interwise
Note
It is strongly recommended that you install Interwise and test your connection a couple days before an event. This is especially important if you have never used Interwise before or if you are using it on a different computer than you've used before. Setting up and testing your connection ahead of time gives you a chance to troubleshoot any technical problems you may be having and get assistance, if necessary.
Windows 98, 2000, and XP users
- Using Internet Explorer, visit the Getting Ready for an Interwise Event page.

- On the page, click System Check to make sure your computer meets the minimum requirements for using Interwise.
- When you are finished checking your privacy settings, refer back to the Getting Ready for an Interwise Event page and click Setup.
Caution
If you are attempting to access an Event in Internet Explorer 7, you will need to press and hold the Control key on your keyboard until you have the Event running on your screen.
- You may be prompted with an ActiveX Install warning below the URL Address bar in Internet Explorer. Click the ActiveX notification and select Install ActiveX Control.

- You may also be prompted with a security applet. If so, click Yes to continue.

- Interwise now runs through the setup procedure. You should see a status bar indicating the install progress in the middle of your screen. During the installation process, your connection to the Interwise server is also tested, so you should be able to connect to the event if your computer successfully completes the installation. When the Interwise client is finished installing, you will be brought back to the Getting Ready for an Interwise Event page. Click Enter Demo if you would like to see a demonstration of the software.
Windows Vista Users
- Access the following URL: http://download.interwise.com/customersupportdownloads/software/7.2/Participant_7.2_Vista.exe.
- When prompted, select Open and Run to begin the installation.
- Once Interwise is installed, using Internet Explorer, visit the Getting Ready for an Interwise Event page.
- Go to 3rd step and click the button for Enter Demo if you would like to see a demonstration of the software.
Warning
If you do not set up your computer ahead of time, it will be set up when you attend the first event, but you may miss part or all of the event if you run into any problems and need to troubleshoot them.
If you encounter any problems while installing the software and testing your connection, or while attempting to attend an event, refer to the Technical Troubleshooting documentation for tips on how to address the specific problem you are experiencing. If the audio is not working, you may have to refer to Connect and Adjust Your Headset.
In the event that you need assistance, contact connect@wpi.edu for assistance prior to the event. Assistance is provided during the ATC's regular business hours.
