Security Question
A Security Question allows you to reset your WPI PIN. The PIN can be used to login to Bannerweb.wpi.edu, and also enables you to reset your WPI password. Without a Security Question, you cannot reset your own PIN. You can set a Security Question as follows:
- Login to the WPI Web Information System (https://bannerweb.wpi.edu) using your WPI username and password, or your WPI ID number and PIN.
- Click on the Personal Information Menu.

- If you know your PIN:
- Select Change Security Question. Next enter your PIN, then choose a Question and type an Answer, then click Submit Answer. (Note: Answers are not case-sensitive.)
- If you do not know your PIN:
- Select Change PIN. Type the temporry PIN provided to you in the Enter Old PIN field. If an error appears and you cannot proceed, contact the WPI Helpdesk (Staff and Faculty). Students will neeed to contact the Registrar's office.
- Choose a PIN that adheres to the following:
- upper case letters (A-Z)
- lower case letters (a-z)
- numbers (0-9)
- Type a PIN of your choice for Enter New PIN and type it again for Re-enter New PIN, then click Change PIN.
- Select Change Security Question. Next enter your PIN, then choose a Question and type an Answer, then click Submit Answer. (Note: Answers are not case-sensitive.)
- Exit WPI Web Information System.
