AutoCAD 2005 Install

Off-campus installation notes:

  1. You must be connected to the VPN in order to install and to run this program
  2. AutoCAD is a very large program and the install time will vary depending on your connection speed from off campus. Dial-up connections will not be supported.

Installation Instructions

  1. Map your T: drive to \\rivet.wpi.edu\applications.
  2. Open up the T: drive and double click on the AutoCAD_2005 folder.
  3. Double click on the shortcut labelled AutoCAD_2005_client.
  4. Keep clicking "Next" until the installation begins. You do not need to change any installation parameters.
  5. After the installation of AutoCAD 2005, another installation window for AutoCAD 2005 Express Tools Volumes 1-9 will come up. Again, hit "Next" until the installation begins.
  6. Once the Express Tools installation is finished, you will need to fix the Licpath.lic file in the AutoCAD 2005 installation folder or the program will ask you for a license file upon starting and it won't work.
  7. Go to the AutoCAD 2005 Installation Folder "C:\Program Files\AutoCAD 2005" and right-click Licpath.lic file. Click "Open With" and choose the "Select the program from a list" option. Double-click "Notepad" and you will see something similar to this:
    SERVER GALAXY xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    SERVER RIVET xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    SERVER TANKER xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    USE_SERVER
(The x's stand for numbers that are generated for your specific license)

Change the text so that it reads:
    SERVER GALAXY.WPI.EDU xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    SERVER RIVET.WPI.EDU xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    SERVER TANKER.WPI.EDU xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
    USE_SERVER
  8. Save the file.
  9. To use AutoCAD 2005, go to Start->All Programs->Autodesk->AutoCAD 2005 and select "AutoCAD 2005".

Please note that these instructions are for installation of AutoCAD 2005 on personal computers. AutoCAD 2005 may also be installed on selected lab workstations through Advertised Programs in the Control Panel.
