Duplex Printing Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How do I determine if my printer can print on both sides?
The best method to determine if your printer allows printing on both sides (also known as duplexing) is to check the print queue itself.
- Click on Start, the Printers.
- Right click on printer in the list, choose Properties.
- The Features section of the General tab lists Double-sided. If it says Yes, then your printer can duplex.
Another method is by checking the model name of the printer itself. If your HP printer model number has a D or an X in it, then it can duplex. An HP Laserjet 4250DN could print duplex while an HP Laserjet 4250N could not.
How do I print double-sided?
Please note that these directions should work regardless of what application you are printing from. The only necessity is a printer with duplexing capabilities.
- Use Ctrl + P or File then Print to open the Print dialog box.
- Select the duplexing printer, then click on Properties.
- Select the Finishing tab.
- Under Document Options, select Print On Both Sides.
- Click Ok then Ok again to print the item.
