SGI Altix 350

The Math Department has acquired an SGI Altix 350 (toth.wpi.edu). This system features 16 1.5GHz Itanium2 CPUs with 6MB L3 cache each, and 32GB RAM. It will provide high-performance shared-memory computation resources to the Math Department and the entire WPI research community.

This system is running SGI's version of Linux, which features a high-performance scheduler and supports very large systems with up to 128 CPUs. Compilers include Intel's optimized C, C++, and Fortran compilers and the traditional gnu gcc and g77 compilers. Intel's Math Kernel Libraries and SGI's optimized high-performance computing libraries are also available.
