WPI's Virtual Private Network (VPN)
Software Requirements
- A supported version of Mac OS with all security patches applied:
- 10.4, 32 bit only
- 10.5, 32 or 64 bit
- 10.6, 32 or 64 bit
- An account with Administrator access on your Macintosh.
Installation
- Browse to https://vpn.wpi.edu in
the web browser of your choice. You will be presented with an AUP
banner. You must accept the AUP by clicking on Proceed before continuing.

- Log in with your WPI email address and password.

- Click on the Start button to start the VPN.
First time users will receive several pop-up windows as described below.

- Your browser will change to this window.

- Click the Allow button to install the VPN software.

- You will be prompted to confirm software installation. You may
select either Always, or Yes.
If you select Yes, you will see
a seperate prompt for each individual software component. If you
select Always, the entire installation process will complete
automatically. Selecting No will cancel the installation process.

- Enter the username & password with Administrator access on your Macintosh then
click OK.

- The Network Connect window will now open. This window displays VPN connectivity information.

- When you are ready to logout of the VPN, click the Sign Out on
the client window and confirm your disconnect request.

Launching the Client
- Launch the Network Connect application from the Applications folder.

- In the Sign-in Page field, fill in the value
https://vpn.wpi.edu and click the
Go button. You will be presented with an AUP
banner. You must accept the AUP by clicking on Proceed before continuing.

- You will be
presented with a login screen very similar to the web page version.
Sign in with your WPI email address.

- The Network Connect window will now open. This window displays VPN connectivity information.

- When you are ready to logout of the VPN, click the Sign Out on
the client window and confirm your disconnect request.
