WPI's Virtual Private Network (VPN)

Software Requirements

• Mac OS 10.4 with all security patches applied
• Safari 2.0 or newer
• An account with administrator access

If you do not have a compatible version of Java installed, you may download on directly from Apple at http://www.apple.com/java

Directions

1. Navigate in the web browser of your choice to http://vpn.wpi.edu.
   
   
2. Log in with your CCC username and password.
   
   
3. Click on the "Launch Netdirect VPN" link. This will launch a small status window containing the Netdirect Java application.
   
   
4. A window will appear asking you for your password on the local machine you are logging in from.
   
   
5. When the Netdirect client has successfully completed, it will display a banner message.
   
   
6. At this point, the VPN applet window will indicate that is has successfully connected. You may safely minimize this window, but if you close it your connection to the VPN will terminate.
   
   
7. When you are ready to disconnect from the VPN client, you may do so simply by closing the browser window you logged into the portal page with.
