Welcome

The Department of Chemical Engineering at WPI has had a long and illustrious history of educating generations of chemical engineers and engaging in research and scholarship at the frontiers of academic inquiry. We are very proud of the exceptional accomplishments of our 2,200 strong alumni, many of whom occupy key positions in industry. We are also proud of the numerous research contributions that our faculty and students have made over the decades in advancing chemical technology.

If you are a high school student considering chemical engineering at WPI, we encourage you to take a closer look and visit us. Our faculty, staff, and facilities are first-rate. WPI's project-based education is unique, and brings you face-to-face with the real-world. The WPI Plan, instituted more than 30 years ago, now serves as a model nationwide for engineering education. You may choose a chemical engineering concentration in biochemical, biomedical, environmental, or materials. You may also choose to participate in one or more projects abroad, as many WPI students do, or do research in our own labs alongside of graduate students. Our graduates are well-placed and chemical engineers typically command the highest starting salary. Read more about careers in chemical engineering...

If you are considering graduate school, you would be hard-pressed to find a department with more exciting research projects coupled with individual attention than you would receive here. Our laboratories are state-of-the-art and our faculty are well-respected leaders in their respective fields. You would have a wide choice of funded research projects, including, but not limited to nanostructured materials, bioseparations, cellular adhesion, bioremediation, zeolite science, environmental catalysis, process control, computational fluid dynamics, hydrogen energy, and fuel cells.

If you are an alumunus/a, welcome back. Please send us an e-mail - we would love to hear from you!
