Connors lab extends funding from Ventana Reseach Corp.
Prof. Connors was recently awarded a $51,565 subcontract on an award from the Air Force to continue work with Vantana Research Corporation of Tucson, AZ on developing and characterizing advanced light activated technologies that will impart self-decontamination upon surfaces used in individual and collective protection systems. The Connors lab and Ventana have prepared organic macrocylic compounds that produce, trap, and release a reactive oxygen species. The current project involves incorporating these materials in garments and testing their efficacy for chemical and biological decontamination. This is the latest in a series of collaborations with Ventana Research Corporation dating back to January of ‘05.
