Majors & Minors
WPI offers a variety of programs for students who wish to study the humanities and arts for a degree program. Several majors and minors in many areas of the humanities and arts are available, and the Department contributes several interdisciplinary programs.
Majors
In the Humanities and Arts Major, students may take courses from across the humanities and arts, or they may focus their program of study with a Concentration in one of the following areas: History, Literature, Music, Philosophy, Religion, Drama/Theatre, Writing and Rhetoric, Art History, German Studies, Hispanic Studies, American Studies, Environmental Studies, or Humanities Studies of Science and Technology.
All majors complete a Major Project (MQP) in an area of the humanities and arts. The major project might result in a research paper, creative writing, or performance. Each year the department recognizes the best major projects with the Provost's MQP Award.
Minors
Students may complete a Minor in Drama/Theatre, History, International Studies, German, Law and Technology, Music, Spanish, or Writing and Rhetoric, or they may create an individually-designed minor in any field of study in the humanities and arts.
If you are interested in pursuing a Major or Minor in the Humanities and Arts, see Professor Bland Addison.
Other Related Majors & Minors
