Humanities and Arts Major with a German or Hispanic Studies Concentration
A Humanities and Arts Major with a German or Hispanic Studies Concentration requires a total of six units of work. Two of the six units must be German (GN) or Spanish (SP) courses at the 2000 level of higher. One of the six units is and MQP in German or Hispanic Studies. The remaining three units are chosen, in consultation with an advisor, from among other Humanities and Arts courses, particularly from courses closely related to German or Hispanic Studies.

Foreign Language Minor
The minor in Foreign Language can be completed in either German or Spanish. It allows students who are well prepared to continue their study of the language and its culture well beyond the advanced level. The minor consists of a total of two units of work, distributed in the following way:
- 1 unit of intermediate and advanced language courses in Spanish or German chosen from the following:

2/3 unit of advanced literature and culture courses chosen from the following:
- SP 3523, SP 3524, SP 3525, SP 3526, SP 3527, or any other advanced Spanish course, or Consortium courses approved by a faculty member in Spanish.
- GN 3513, GN 3514, GN 3515, or any other advanced German course, or Consortium courses approved by a faculty member in German.
- Any 3000-level experimental course in GN or SP may also be used.
- 1/3 unit capstone experience consisting of an IS/P written in the foreign language.
