Technical Requirements for Humanities and Arts Majors
The technical requirements for Humanities and Arts majors were recently updated. As of 2008-09, the Distribution Requirements for the Humanities and Arts major include a Mathematics and Science Requirement of two units (six courses). Each humanities and arts major must take two courses in mathematics, two courses in basic science, and two courses selected from any area of mathematics, basic science or computer science.
Prior to 2007, students majoring in Humanities and Arts, International Studies, and Interactive Media and Game Development-Artistic fulfilled the Sufficiency Requirement with two units in an area of mathematics, science, engineering or computer science. Students who enrolled before 2007 may complete either a Technical Sufficiency Requirement or the new technical requirements in current Distribution Requirements. For reference, advisors for the Technical Sufficiency are listed in the table below.
Consult the Head of the Department and the current Undergraduate Catalog for more information. Many career opportunities may demand more extensive preparation in technological disciplines, and students are strongly advised to take full advantage of WPI’s resources in science, technology, and mathematics.
