Social Science Courses

Courses offered by the Department of Social Sciences and Policy Studies count toward the WPI degree requirement in the Social Sciences. Students should take courses offered by the Department of Humanities and Arts to fulfill the breadth and depth components of the Humanties and Arts Requirement adopted in 2007. Students are encouraged to take courses in the social sciences and humanities and arts that complement one another or to develop intellectual interests that cross both departments. International courses in the social sciences and the humanities and arts both may be counted towards a minor or major in International Studies. Environmental courses in both departments also may count toward interdisciplinary programs related to the environment.

Certain social science could be counted toward the Humanities and Arts Sufficiency Requirement if they were thematically related to the concluding project. Consult the Undergraduate Catalog or the Head of the Department for special rules that apply in these circumstances.
