In order to grasp the significance of the construction of a new Globe Theatre, it is necessary to first understand the history of the original Globe. Possible reading materials which would compliment this lesson include an account of the experience of attending the theatre and witnesses to the burning of the Globe, both found in the appendix of Shakespeare's Globe Rebuilt, and in this paper in Appendix 2.
