Death of a Salesman
by Arthur Miller

November 19-21, 2004
8pm
Alden Hall

In the person of Willy Loman, the aging, failing salesman who makes his living riding on a smile and a shoeshine, Arthur Miller redefined the tragic hero as a man whose dreams are at once insupportably vast and dangerously insubstantial. He has given us a figure whose name has become a symbol for a kind of majestic grandiosity-- and a play that compresses epic extremes of humor and anguish, promise and loss, between the four walls of an American living room.

This annual festival of new works features plays and performance pieces written, directed and performed by members of the WPI community. The key word here is "new" so if you haven't done something before (like direct) and you'd like to give it a try this is the time and the place to do it. We are now accepting scripts for the festival. Scripts and proposals are reviewed by a committee of five student dramaturgs who decide which pieces will be part of the festival. If you haven't started writing, get going! The deadline is January 28, 2005 at 5pm. Check out the script guidelines this year, and make sure to submit a set design for the set design competition too!
