London Track

Planning an Interactive Project in London or Humanities and Arts Seminar or Practicum in London?  Then you might want to consider an International Studies minor with a "London Track."

An Interactive Project or Major Project at London (or another Global Project Center) counts as one unit of the three units required by the minor. One unit of courses in art, history, literature, music, or theatre from your Humanities and Arts Requirement or international Social Science courses may count towards the minor’s international electives. The core requires one history course, one cross-cultural course, and HU 4411, Senior Seminar in International Studies. One unit of the minor may not double-count with other degree requirements.

Here are several examples of an London track. These are merely examples and the courses you choose could be different. For example, someone completing a sufficiency project in London could do more electives instead of the Interactive Project. Or a student who did an off-campus Major Project in London in International Studies, or Humanities and Arts, or another major could also complete the minor through a London Track.

1 unit International Core

HI 1341 Introduction to Global History

HU 3411 Pro-seminar in Global Perspectives
HU 4411 Senior Seminar in International Studies

1 unit Humanities and Arts or Social Science courses

HI 2324 Industry and Empire in British History

HI 2322 Europe Since World War I

HI 3321 Topics in Modern European History

1 unit Interactive Qualifying Project or a Humanities and Arts Inquiry Seminar/Practicum at London

OR:

1 unit International Core

HI 1321 Introduction to European Social History

HU 4411 Senior Seminar in International Studies

1 unit Humanities and Arts or Social Science courses

HI 2324 Industry and Empire in British History

EN 3224 Shakespeare Seminar

1 unit Interactive Project or Major Project at London

When taken as preparation for an Interactive Project in London, ID 2050 may count towards the electives of the London track of the International Studies minor.

Since the background and goals of each student are different, these requirements are flexible. In essence, the London Track is a sample program that demonstrates how students with experience at the London Project Center may shape the minor to meet their goals.
