Welcome
Mathematics and statistics are present in all the aspects of our modern society. Mathematicians work in a broad range of professions. Everywhere, in the insurance or the finance industry, in the automobile or the aircraft industry, in the software and the internet industry, in the biotechnology and biomedical industry, mathematicians and statisticians have an important role in the modeling and analysis of phenomena, deepening the understanding in those respective domains.
The department offers B.S. degrees in Mathematical Sciences & Actuarial Mathematics, M.S. degrees in Applied Mathematics & Applied Statistics, Professional M.S. degrees in Financial Mathematics & Industrial Mathematics, a Master of Mathematics for Educators, as well as a Ph.D. in Mathematical Sciences. The department is also home to the Center for Industrial Mathematics and Statistics (CIMS), which has been supporting the development of industrial collaborations at the undergraduate, graduate and research level with over 30 companies, businesses and government labs.
