What Do Physics Grads Do?

These data were compiled from WPI Alumni graduating during the years 1939-1990 and analyzed by Mike Mazur ('98) and Joe Lefrancois ('00) in their Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP).

  • WPI physics graduates and grad school. Physics grads often pursue graduate work but not always in physics. According to the IQP survey of Mike Mazur ('98) and Joe Lefrancois ('00), 45% of the respondents received a masters in physics, 29% obtained a Ph.D. in physics, while 24% received a masters in another science and 7% received a Ph.D. in another science. 8% received a business degree and 4% an education degree. Three of the respondents received a law degree, and two obtained a medical degree.
