Ph.D. Candidate

Graduation Date: 2005

Many students find a welcoming community on the campus, and among the students and faculty, of WPI. That's been the case for Ph.D. candidate Boris Ramos, who came to WPI from Ecuador. "(WPI) is like a family. As a graduate student I have been able to get involved in (the SSPS) department and to share great experiences and activities," he says. Unlike some universities where students can get lost in overwhelming numbers, each student is an important part of the department, he says. And just like a community should, its members care about each other. "The system dynamics professors and instructors at WPI are excellent, and they will guide you through the whole process of learning," Boris says. "They really care about your academic progress." Boris has found the system dynamics curriculum engaging and useful, especially in multidisciplinary contexts. "I would definitely recommend system dynamics to prospective students and encourage them to combine it with other technical and non-technical fields," he says. So, even thousands of miles from his community and family, for Boris, WPI feels like home.
