- Kim Warren, an adjunct Professor in the System Dynamics On-Line program won the prestigious Jay Wright Forrester Award 05 for his work on strategy dynamics. This award is given for the best contribution to the field over the past five years and carries a cash remuneration as well as a citation.
- Professor Mike Radzicki has been elected president of the System Dynamics Society. He will serve as President-Elect in 2005 and President in 2006.
- Professor Mike Radzicki has been appointed to the Editorial Board of the Journal of Economic Issues the top-ranked journal in the field of institutional economics.
- Professor Mike Radzicki presented a version of his "Token-Land" system dynamics model at the Association for Social Economics meeting in Philadelphia on January 7, 2005. Radzicki used the model to illustrate some of the core ideas in Post Keynesian economic theory and to look at the future of the social security system.
- Professors Oleg Pavolv, Mike Radzicki, and Khalid Saeed presented a paper titled: "Stability in a Superpower-Dominated Global Economic System" at the Association for Evolutionary Economics meeting in Philadelphia on January 7, 2005. The paper discusses the use of "soft variables" in system dynamics modeling and will appear in the June 2005 issue of the Journal of Economic Issues.
- Wilkes & McCormick Receive Research Award
John Wilkes, professor of Social Science and Policy Studies, and Keith McCormick '93 received the Isabel Briggs Myers Memorial Research Award. Given every two years by the Myers & Briggs Foundation, the award was presented in July 2001 at the Association for Psychological Type International Conference. The recipients are honored for excellence in research that contributes to knowledge of Jungian psychological type theory or the practical application of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The award citation notes that Wilkes's work on the Worcester studies (focused on the WPI Classes of 2001 and 2002) and the Worcester Public School study (focused on PSAT score differences) has made significant contributions to the field of education. - Saeed & Radzicki Lecture in Palermo
Profs. Khalid Saeed and Michael Radzicki were guest lecturers at the University of Palermo, Italy, in 2004. They presented a series of lectures on the use of system dynamics in the study of economics. - Saeed Receives Best Paper Award in Decision Technologies Track at HICCS 03 Conference
Prof. Khalid Saeed received the best paper award in the decision technologies track at the 2003 Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences for his paper, "Testing Design of a Social Innovation: The Environmental Mitigation Banking System.
