A Student Photography Exhibit in the Gladwin Gallery

Student photographers are invited to submit a framed black & white or color photograph taken while at a WPI Project Center by July 9 (extended deadline). Works will be exhibited June 2007-September 2007 Gladwin Gallery of the Gordon Library.

Best of Show prizes of $100, $50, and $25 will be awarded after July 9th after judging by faculty, staff, and alumni during Reunion Weekend. Artists may pick up their photograph(s) after the exhibit ends in early October.

Judging Criteria:

  1. Relevancy to Topic (WPI Project Center: relates to project & show interaction of WPI students with sponsors, benefactors of project work, and/or fieldwork experience)
  2. Composition / Arrangement (excellent photo with good composition, clarity, and focus, pleasing to the eye, interesting use of camera to capture project experience)
  3. Creativity (inspired by creative thought or unique)

Using these guidelines, along with their own knowledge of photography, the judges, including staff, faculty, and alumni will vote by ballot and rank their top 4 and we will award ribbons for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place as well as Honorable Mention.

Frequently Asked Questions

What type and size frame do I need?

Any 8x10 inch photo or larger is recommended. Please use a frame which has the ability to hang on the wall of the Gladwin Gallery, which is in front of the entrance and on the perimeter of the main entrance level of the library.

Can it be a photo from past years?

Any currently enrolled student or any graduating May 2007 is encouraged to display photographs taken at any project center site. Up to two entries per person but only one prize awarded to each student.

Where do I drop off the photograph?

Drop off to WPI Archives, Room 306, 3rd Floor of the library. If closed when you stop by, leave it with the main information desk staff with your name, month, year, and project center the photograph was taken, and a title of the photograph for the exhibit label.
