Matt Hall, Director of User Services/Assistant Library Director, has been named Acting Director while the search for Helen Shuster’s replacement is conducted. Matt was formerly the Director of Library Services at Quinebaug Valley Community College in Danielson, CT. He joined the Gordon Library staff in October 2006.

New LibX Toolbar & Browser Extension: Install LibX WPI edition to search the library catalog from your FireFox browser. MLA International Bibliography is now available via EBSCOhost. Use to find research on literature, languages, folklore.

QuickFIND multi-database search many resources at once such as the Library Catalog, JSTOR, IEEExplore, ScienceDirect, WorldCat and 50 more, powered by Webfeat Express.

Bibme.org provides free access which allows users to create works cited entries quickly (MLA, APA, Chicago styles). For serious researchers, dive into the world of RefWorks or EndNoteWeb citation management to maintain your own database of references.

SciFinder Scholar 2007 is now available for Windows/Mac users. SciFinder offers access to Chemical Abstracts including the CAS Registry file, with over 29 million substances, the CAPlus file including patents and conference proceedings and is the most comprehensive database of chemical literature.

The Biography Resource Center database should be your first stop for learning more about people, past and present. They have just released a new interface with improved searching & browsing of biographical profiles.

SAGE Premier 3 year access license: More than 440 online journals are now available through HighWire Press including: Environment and Behavior, Indoor and Built Environment, and Journal of Biomaterials Applications. More titles

Newsbank is no longer available but one new option is to search Massachusetts Newsstand (ProQuest CSA) for access to the Boston Globe, Worcester Telegram & Gazette, and other local newspapers. More News sources

The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners has awarded new contracts (as of July 1, 2007) for full text journal, newspaper, and reference databases to Gale, ProQuest CSA, and EBSCO. These resources are available free of charge to all libraries in the state. See individual database titles you can connect to through our databases by subject or A-Z pages. The Gale database Business & Company ASAP and Newsbank are no longer available.
