National Goddard Day
The first liquid propelled rocket flight was performed by Goddard on March 16, 1926, in Auburn, Massachusetts. In 1965, March 16 was declared National Goddard Day to commemorate this event. The celebration at WPI included dedicationg a plaqu e to Goddard at the Skull Tomb. This program was signed by General Bernard A. Schriever, USAF, Commander of Air Force Systems Command, and was also signed by Goddard's widow, Esther.
