Current Awareness Services - Keeping Your Research Up to Date
Keeping Up to Date
- Best starting place: IngentaConnect - Why & How to Use
- RSS Feeds: Fast and Customized Alers
There are a wide range of current awareness services to help keep you informed of new information in your area of interest. Once set up, the information is pushed at a specified frequency (daily, weekly, monthly) via email. Some sites allow you to customize and save searches, favorite books/journals, and even articles/citations on their system. You have to visit the web site in the future to pull the information.
Services range from:
- table of contents alert for your favorite journals or magazines
- saved search alerts
- citation alerts - sent to you when an item is added to the database that cites a specified research article
To register, most require you to set up a free account or personal profile.
