Field Searching - Using the Advanced Search Option

Open the advanced search on a database (or even Google) and be amazed by the power (and time you can save) by limiting your search to the article title, a specific subject, even to a particular journal title that your professor may have recommended.

Even Google has an advanced search option which allows you to limit to a title search. Common fields in library databases include: Author, Title, Journal Title, Abstract, Publisher, etc. You can search within any these fields.

Some search screens offer drop-down field menus that allow you to choose a particular field in which to search.
