Types of Article Databases
1. General and Multidiscipinary Periodical Databases
- Is your topic general or cross-disciplinary?
- Currently in the news?
If so, start with one of the general databases. These cover a wide range of subjects and often index a mixture of popular and scholarly sources. This is often a good place to begin research. Examples of general periodical databases and the kinds of articles they identify are:
- Gale PowerSearch:
- Covers scholarly sources on a variety of topics from 1980 - present with full text for many titles.
- LEXIS-NEXIS Academic:
- Provides a wide range of full-text news, legal, and business information. Coverage varies by title.
