Ways to Search in the Gordon Library Catalog

There are several options for searching Gordon Library's online catalog:

Basic Search

Searches for items by title, journal title, author, subject heading, etc.

Advanced Search

Gives you expanded search options and AND, OR options

Course Reserves

To find course materials placed on reserve by an instructor.

Journals List

Opens new window to search for print and electronic journals, magazines, and newspapers.

New Acquisitions

Keyword search of items that we have received in the past 4 months. Allows browsing of new items by location such as bestsellers or audiobooks.

Other Libraries

Contains links to other libraries, and WorldCat, a database to search many libraries at once

Keyword Relevance

Searches for your term(s) or phrase(s) anywhere within the catalog's online records and ranks them by incidence of keyword in results

B

Subject Heading Browse

Useful to find specific items within a subject area. Use especially if you are finding too many results, to narrow to the best items on a topic area

C

Call number browse

Type in a call number to list items as they are placed on the library shelves

D

Boolean

Construct an AND, OR or NOT search

E

ISBN/ISSN Search

Searches a unique number code identifying a specific book or journal title.
