Cited Reference Searching via Web of Science

The standard source for cited reference searches. Our subscription at WPI includes:

Prior to 1980: You can obtain the total number of times an article is cited (if it has been after 1980), but you cannot retrieve the actual references.

Web of Knowledge: Recorded Training

Connect to Web of Science

WPI has access for 5 simultaneous users, so if you cannot get in, try again in a few minutes. Logout when you are finished.

To eliminate self citations:

Screen results to exclude those items actually written by the author.

Other Databases with Cited Reference Search Options

Many databases allow cited searching but you will see overlap. Compare cited references from the ISI Web of Science results and manually remove duplicates. Cited references include only those that are indexes within that one particular database. Even by searching Amazon.com now, you can search for instances of your citations within published books.
