FullTextFinder: Connect to Information You Need
What is FullTextFinder?
FullTextFinder allows the researcher to "link" from within an online citation in a database to either the full-text reference or to other appropriate library resources or services to get to the information needed, hopefully the full text version.
What Do I Need to Install?
You don't need install anything at all. Our FullTextFinder indicator will automatically appear in databases and Google Scholar if you are on campus or from off campus connected via the WPI Proxy.
Google Scholar users may want to set preferences to point to our FullTextFinder, click here to set this now or go to Scholar Preferences to set this up (next to Libraries, type in WPI if FullTextFinder doesn't already appear).

From within QuickFIND multi-database search you can:
- retreive references to articles, conference proceedings, books, electronic books. Click the FullTextFinder if you are seeing only an abstract for alternative retreival options. For books, check the Worldcat "Libraries Worldwide" option.
- directly search and retrieve items subscribed to by the Gordon Library (click on items under Get the Full Text which will open a new window with the full text of the item)
Connect to our QuickFIND multi-database search now to try this out.
Within library databases such as Web of Knowledge, you will see the FullTextFinder icon appear next to your search results:

FullTextFinder Options
- Click on links under Get the Full Text to open a new window with the full text of the item.
- Search WorldCat to locate books at libraries worldwide. Use the ILL icon to submit a request for items that are not at WPI's Gordon Library.
- If you don't immediately see Get the Full Text there's a link directly to the journal title in our A-Z journal search so that you can double check the Journal List for the title you need.
- Use to quickly place an Interlibrary Loan directly from the FullTextFinder window for items we don't have access to. More about ILL ...

How Does FullTextFinder Really Work?
We subscribe to EBSCO LinkSource® a service which facilitates our cross database OpenURL connections. OpenURL is a type of web link containing resource metadata. The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) developed OpenURL (ANSI standard Z39.88).
Be sure when off-campus to connect to the WPI proxy server to leverage FullTextFinder and the library's subscribed resources.
