About the Center
High temperature vacuum induction melting unit in WPI's foundry laboratory.
AMERIC's goal is to be a nationally recognized center of excellence for materials education and to provide basic research, materials, processes, and professionals a strong aerospace industry needs to excel. The center will join together industrial members, academic researchers from an alliance of universities, and government personnel involved with aerospace metals research and technology. AMERIC will equally address basic research and educational development needs. Much like other MPI centers, AMERIC members will propose project goals and objectives and select which projects to pursue.
Participants will be involved in:
- focus groups that monitor each educational and research project identified by center membership.
- a center director and director-at-large, and a rotating steering committee that provides leadership for AMERIC operations.
- a project staff of educators and researchers from universities and government laboratories that carryout AMERIC projects.
