Educational Opportunities
Responding to a decrease in enrollments in material science programs and an expansion of the curricula devoted to other classes of materials, AMERIC will develop educational opportunities that attract students and provide new courses essential to the aerospace materials engineer of the future:
- The AMERIC education team will design and develop educational modules covering current and emerging metallic alloys and processes important to the aerospace sector. These will be crafted by some of the nation's best technologists and educators.
- AMERIC will pursue the design and implementation of computer modeling and simulation to reinforce course materials and to help build the skills needed by industrial materials engineers.
- AMERIC will explore the use of distance learning methods to disseminate educational materials, lectures, and symposia to member universities on a continuing basis.
- AMERIC will provide students with opportunities for university research, as well as co-op positions, internships, and summer jobs within industry and government laboratories.
