DiIorio has been operating the Bioprocess Laboratory for 12 years, providing contract R&D services to the biotechnology industry. Projects have ranged from fermentation and purification development and optimization, to equipment performance testing, and strain and medium development. He has worked directly with over a dozen biotech. companies in the fields of fermentation and purification process development. through his efforts, increases in process yields as high as 100 - fold have been achieved through the application of fed-batch technology in the state-of-the-art bioprocess laboratory. DiIorio has performed hundreds of fermentations using various strains of industrial interest producing mainly recombinant products, including E. coli, Pichia pastoris, S. cerevisiae, various Streptomyces sp. and B. subtilis.
