Sanders, a leader in the field of protein engineering, purification, and assay development, founded ECI Biotech in 1998. Prior to that, he worked as a senior scientist II at Genome Therapeutics in the Pathogens Program, earned a Ph.D. in biomedical sciences at WPI, and completed postdoctoral training at the Whitehead Institute at MIT. In addition to serving as an assistant research professor in the Bioengineering Institute, he teaches advanced molecular biology in WPI's Biology and Biotechnology Department and serves on numerous scientific and entrepreneurial boards at WPI and Clark University. Sanders has secured an aggregate $12 million in equity, corporate development funding, and SBIR grants for ECI Biotech.
