Regenerative Bioscience & Engineering
Dear Colleague,
On Thursday, September 20th, WPI’s Bioengineering Institute (BEI) will host the Symposium for Regenerative Biosciences & Engineering. This is part of our week long celebration for the grand opening of the WPI Life Science and Bioengineering Center at Gateway Park.
Regenerative medicine involves the use of cells and scaffolds to produce replacement parts for the human body. This symposium will feature world renowned experts in the field of regenerative medicine, many of whom collaborate with faculty members at WPI. The talks will cover:
- Extracellular matrix based tissue regeneration
- The cell biology of tissue regeneration
- Early embryonic development and somatic cell nuclear transfer
- Cardiac regeneration
- Stem cells in cancer biology
- Somatic cell nuclear transfer and alteration of genomic potential
Joining us as speakers are:
Stephen F. Badylak, D.V.M., M.D., Ph.D. Research Professor, Department of Surgery; Director, Center for Pre-Clinical Tissue Engineering, McGowan Institute for Regenerative Medicine, University of Pittsburgh
Ken Muneoka, Ph.D., Professor, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology, Tulane University
Eric Overstrom, Ph.D., Professor and Chair, Department of Biology & Biotechnology, Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Chuck Murry, M.D., Ph.D., Professor, Department of Pathology; Director, Center for Cardiovascular Biology and Regenerative Medicine, University of Washington
Stephen Doxsey, Ph.D., Professor, Cell Biology Department, University of Massachusetts Medical School
Keith Campbell, Ph.D., Professor, School of Biosciences, Division of Animal Physiology, The University of Nottingham
Marsha Rolle, Ph.D., Assistant Professor, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Worcester Polytechnic Institute
Further details will be coming soon.
