Research

The CIS capitalizes on a long history of CIS work conducted for the Advanced Casting Research Center (ACRC) and the Particulate Materials Research Center (PMRC) as part of the MPI infrastructure. It is the goal of MPI to work with its industrial partners free of any reliance on particular instrumentation and testing approaches. The CIS first defines the inspection requirements followed by devising the appropriate Nondestructive Evaluation Technique. As a result, ultrasound, acoustic resonance, eddy currents, infra-red, microwaves, electrostatics, and X-rays have been used as inspection modality to meet the specific needs of our sponsoring corporations.
