Focus & Objectives
The Center for Research in Exploratory Data and Information Analysis (CREDIA) is devoted to the generation of cutting edge research in data exploration and knowledge discovery, and to the application of this research in scientific, industrial, and commercial domains. CREDIA's research encompasses a wide spectrum of analytic, computational, and interactive visualization approaches to data exploration. The Center is funded by industrial members, research grants from federal and state agencies, and WPI.
Exploratory Data Analysis (EDA) is an integral component in science, engineering, manufacturing, commerce, and nearly every other branch of our society. No single tool or technology is well suited for all, or even a significant subset, of these domains and thus a major activity within CREDIA is for researchers and developers of EDA technology to work closely with domain specialists to understand the semantics of the relevant data and the data phenomena of interest.
