CREDIA Co-Directors
Professor Matthew Ward is a Full Professor at Worcester
Polytechnic Institute. He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science from
the University of Connecticut in 1981. He worked in the research
division of AT&T Bell Laboratories and at Skantek Corporation prior to
joining WPI in 1986. His research focuses on exploratory visualization
of data and information, a field in which he is internationally
recognized, particularly for the interactive visualization tools he
has developed and distributed within the public domain. For more

Professor Carolina Ruiz is an Assistant Professor at
Worcester Polytechnic Institute. She received a Ph.D. in Computer
Science from the University of Maryland College Park. Professor Ruiz's
research centers around the development and use of intelligent
techniques for knowledge discovery in databases and data mining. Her
current research projects include data mining for genetic analysis,
exploratory analysis of sleep data, and sequence mining. She is the
founder and coordinator of WPI's Knowledge Discovery in Databases and
Data Mining Research Group (KDDRG).. For more
