Research and Development, Engineering Support Services Changes - Mercury Marine

As Mercury Marine and Brunswick's marine businesses become more closely integrated, there are increasing requirements for technical issues to be addressed cross-divisionally. In an effort to support these activities, I'm pleased to announce the following changes:

It is an honor and a pleasure to announce Kevin Anderson has been named Mercury Fellow. The Mercury Fellow role is the highest position on the Mercury Marine technical career path. Mercury Fellows are appointed as a result of their singular expertise in a particular area and their ability to significantly improve Mercury's technical capability. They are externally recognized as an expert in their field, maintain extensive industry connections within their field of expertise, resolve difficult technical problems, write technical reports for internal use, publish internal process guidelines, conduct training seminars, write technical papers, and submit patent disclosures.

In his new role, Kevin will be tasked to focus on Brunswick Marine and Focused Business Unit materials activities as well as supporting the needs of the legal organization. Kevin has been with Mercury over eight years. Prior to joining Mercury, Kevin worked at Reynolds Aluminum Research as a Section Director and other technical positions. He has made numerous national publications and presentations and has been awarded over 10 patents. His dedication to Mercury is evident as he has won the "Patent of the Year" or "Most Valuable Patent" at Mercury in three different years. He has a bachelor's and master's degree and a Ph.D. in Materials Science from the University of Illinois - Champaign Urbana.

Mark Degler will assume Kevin's role as Manager of the R&D Materials Laboratory. In this role, Mark will have full managerial and budget responsibility for all personnel, equipment and processes in the Materials Laboratory. Mark joins R&D after three years as Manager of Business Development for Mercury Castings. Prior to joining Mercury, Mark worked at Howmet Castings as a Business Manager and in various sales and technical roles. Mark has a Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin and a MBA from Indiana University.

Both Kevin and Mark will report to me. Please offer these individuals your support as they transition into these important roles.
