Additional Opportunities

Projects
Undergraduates have the opportunity to work on their Humanities & Arts Sufficiency, Interactive Qualifying Project (IQP), or Major Qualifying Project (MQP) during the summer months. For information on available IQPs and MQPs and necessary forms, students should visit the Projects Program Web site. Students interested in working on a Sufficiency should consult the list of faculty available in the summer (in the Humanities & Arts Office - Salisbury Labs).
Summer Bridge Program
Students who finish the academic year on Academic Warning or Academic Probation status, but who have passed at least 2 units of academic work during the previous four terms, are eligible to participate in the Summer Bridge Program. Students who participate in the program enroll in E Term for two courses and also take a 4-week study skills program. Students will also be required to enroll in activities provided by WPI's Academic Resources Center. Successful completion of all components of the program will result in the academic status rising one level (Academic Probation to Academic Warning, or Academic Warning to Satisfactory Academic Progress), and eligibility for financial aid restored. Eligible students should contact the Office of Academic Advising at +1-508-831-5381.
Reading and Study Skills
The Reading and Study Skills course develops techniques and strategies for efficient and effective processing and retention of information, especially for technical and scientific material. Rate (not speed reading) is developed through a phrase reading method. Comprehension skills are introduced to ensure successful results of those rate methods; study skills are added to ensure long-term retention of learned information. Offered by Learning Skills Inc., the program will meet daily for four weeks in one-hour and fifteen-minute sessions. Multiple sections will be offered. Flexible scheduling will be offered. The Reading and Study Skills program is required of students participating in the Summer Bridge Program. Interested students should contact the Office of Academic Advising at +1-508-831-5381.
