Our Very Own Class Banner

Charlie Stasey proudly displays the new class banner.

As a part of updating and expanding WPI's image along with extensively advertising in the New England and NewYork area, the University also redesigned its logo, from the long familiar twin towers, to the original seal of the institute along with the bold lettering "WPI". It made for a strong, attractive, clearly recognizable logo and banner.

Last year, during the Class board of Directors' meeting at Homecoming '03 Bob Beckett bought one of the new banners and suggested that "we" have our class year embroidered on it.

For those who may be interested in the minutia, we found an embroidery company in Wollaston (everybody knows Wollaston, home of HoJo's, hello?) but they would not cut open the seams so we found a seamstress who cut the banner open, and then restitched it after both sides were embroidered. There, that's more than you ever wanted to know.

We believe it is not only the first WPI banner with a class date on it but a very attractive job at that! Thank you, Bob for your great idea and contribution.
